Welcome to Bangalore! Known officially as Bengaluru, this dynamic metropolis is the capital of the southern Indian state of Karnataka and is Ajey's hometown. It's a city where tradition beautifully intertwines with rapid modernization, often referred to as India's "Silicon Valley." We're so excited to share this vibrant place with you as we celebrate our wedding here!

- A Metropolis of Millions: Home to approximately 12.8 million people, Bengaluru is India's third most populous city, a bustling melting pot of cultures and communities from across the country.
- Pleasant December Weather: Bangalore is blessed with one of the most agreeable climates in India. In December, you can expect comfortable temperatures typically ranging from a cool 15°C (59°F) in the evenings to a mild and sunny 30°C (86°F) during the day – perfect wedding weather!
- India's Silicon Valley: Bengaluru is the heart of India's booming IT industry, teeming with tech parks, innovative startups, and global corporations. This influx of talent contributes to the city's youthful energy and cosmopolitan vibe.
- Rich History Meets Modernity: Founded in 1537 by Kempe Gowda I with a simple mud fort, Bangalore has grown into a global city while preserving pockets of its colonial past and traditional Kannadiga roots. Look out for historical buildings nestled amongst skyscrapers.

Things to Do & See
While you're in Bangalore celebrating with us, we hope you get a chance to explore some of these wonderful spots. Here are a few recommendations:
Lalbagh Botanical Garden
A sprawling 240-acre haven established in the 18th century by Hyder Ali and later his son Tipu Sultan. Lalbagh is a truly historic botanical garden featuring over 1,800 species of plants, a picturesque lake, and the iconic Glass House modeled after London's Crystal Palace. It's a beautiful escape from the city's hustle.
Tips: Go for a peaceful morning walk (entry is free before 9 am and after 6 pm). Don't miss the Kempe Gowda Tower, one of the four watchtowers built around the city.
Bangalore Palace
Step back in time at this magnificent palace built in 1887 by the Wodeyar dynasty. Reminiscent of Windsor Castle, it boasts stunning Tudor and Gothic architecture, exquisite wood carvings, antique furniture, and a fascinating collection of paintings and photographs from the past. The grounds often host concerts and events.
Tips: An audio guide is highly recommended to appreciate the history and details. Check for events happening on the palace grounds during your visit.
Nandi Hills
Located about 60km north of the city, Nandi Hills is a popular getaway offering breathtaking panoramic views, especially at sunrise. This ancient hill fortress has historical significance, featuring Tipu Sultan's Drop, ancient temples, and the Yoganandeeshwara Temple at the summit. It's a refreshing change of scenery.
Tips: Leave early in the morning (around 4:30-5:00 am) to catch the sunrise. Traffic can build up, especially on weekends. Carry a light jacket as it can be cool at the top.
Cubbon Park
Spanning 300 acres in the heart of the city, Cubbon Park (officially Sri Chamarajendra Park) is a beloved green oasis. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll amidst bamboo groves, flowering trees, and open lawns. The park is also home to significant buildings like the Karnataka High Court and the State Central Library (Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall).
Tips: Visit on a Sunday when the park is closed to vehicular traffic, creating a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. It's a great spot for photography.
Vidhana Soudha & Attara Kacheri
Witness the grandeur of Karnataka's legislative assembly building, the Vidhana Soudha. This imposing structure is a magnificent example of Neo-Dravidian architecture, located opposite the Attara Kacheri (Karnataka High Court), a stately red-brick colonial building. While entry inside is restricted, their exteriors are a must-see and make for great photos.
Tips: Best viewed during the day for architectural detail, or in the evening when the Vidhana Soudha is often beautifully illuminated (check timings). They are conveniently located next to Cubbon Park.
Shopping & Exploring Areas
Explore the diverse shopping experiences! Dive into the bustling lanes of Commercial Street for street shopping, textiles, and accessories where bargaining is part of the fun. Visit MG Road and its surrounding areas for bookstores, cafes, and larger retail outlets, or explore upscale malls like UB City for luxury brands and fine dining.
Tips: Wear comfortable shoes! Commercial Street is best explored on foot. For a mix of cafes, boutiques, and restaurants, check out areas like Indiranagar or Koramangala.
Indulge in the Food Scene
Bangalore is a food lover's paradise! Sample traditional South Indian breakfast at iconic spots like MTR or Vidyarthi Bhavan. Explore the vibrant cafe culture, try regional Karnataka dishes, enjoy a diverse range of Indian cuisines (North Indian, Coastal, etc.), or visit one of the many microbreweries that have made Bangalore a craft beer hub.
Tips: Don't leave without trying a Masala Dosa, Idli-Vada, Bisi Bele Bath, and of course, filter coffee! Use food delivery apps (Swiggy, Zomato) if you prefer to order in.
National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA)
For art enthusiasts, the NGMA offers a peaceful retreat showcasing a collection of Indian modern and contemporary art. Housed in a beautiful colonial building and its modern annex, it provides a glimpse into India's artistic journey from the 19th century onwards.
Tips: Check their website for current exhibitions. The cafe on site is a nice spot to relax after exploring the galleries.
